Thank you for joining us for our first annual Open Mind Film Festival presented by The Friends of the Semel Institute at UCLA. We hope you enjoyed viewing the nine selected films and hearing from some of the filmmakers. If your friends, family, or colleagues were unable to join us yesterday, they can view the entire program on our YouTube channel.
We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday, May 12th 5PM PT for The Friends and Resnick Board's Open Mind program with Yiyun Li, Princeton Professor of Creative Writing and renowned author of the critically acclaimed new book, Where Reasons End. This thoughtfully told story is an imagined conversation between a mother and her son that she lost to suicide. It is modeled after Li 's own story of losing her 16-year-old son who died by suicide in 2017. Professor Li will be joined in conversation by Michael Gitlin, M.D., Distinguished Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Director of the Mood Disorders Clinic at UCLA. You may register for this free virtual event here.
We also hope you will join The Friends and The Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital Board of Advisors on Thursday, May 13 at 5PM PT for #WOW2021, hosted by Lisa Kudrow. Proceeds from #WOW will support mental health education, research, and clinical care programs at UCLA. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit our website www.friendsofthesemelinstitute.org. There you will also find our library of past Open Mind videos on our YouTube channel.
We deeply appreciate the support of our audience members who make it possible for us to continue to bring renowned speakers and films about mental health issues as a free public service to the community. If you are able, we hope you will support us as generously as you can. Your contribution will be 100% tax deductible.
