Dear Friends,
Thank you for participating in UCLA's Friends of the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital Board of Advisors virtual Open Mind/#WOW program. We were pleased to host this zoom event featuring Brett Rapkin with Sasha Cohen and Talin Babikian, Ph.D. We hope that you found their conversation enlightening.

Our next virtual Open Mind/#WOW program, The Unapologetic Guide to Black Mental Health will be Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Rheeda Walker, Ph.D. explores Black mental health in today's world, the forces that have undermined mental health progress for African Americans, and what needs to happen for African Americans to heal psychological distress, find community, and undo years of stigma and marginalization in order to access effective mental health care.

Gail Wyatt, Ph.D., Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA, will join Dr. Walker in conversation.

You can register for this event here.

We invite you to visit our website, www.friendsofthesemelinstitute.org to learn more about The Friends and Resnick Open Mind/#WOW programs and see a calendar of upcoming events. There you will also find information about The Friends Research Scholar Program that awards grants to early career neuroscientists who are at the forefront of new discoveries about the mind and brain and our newly launched Open Mind Student Film Festival for Mental Health. The Resnick Board supports early career clinicians through the Clinical Innovation Grants program.

Please be sure to also check out the videos from our past Open Mind events on our YouTube channel.

Thank you for your attendance and support. Stay healthy and safe and we look forward to virtually seeing you at future Open Mind/#WOW programs.
