No One Cares About Crazy People

March 1, 2026

The Friends screened No One Cares About Crazy People , a feature documentary film about the tragedy, crisis and chaos of severe mental illness in America – and a burgeoning national crusade to do something about it. Narrated by actor Bob Odenkirk, the film is a fusion of intimate storytelling and broad reportage, taking us inside the tragedy, chaos, and crisis of severe mental illness in America. It was inspired by acclaimed journalist Ron Powers’ acclaimed book of the same name, a hybrid narrative of tragic family memoir and searing social history.

A panel discussion with leading voices in film, advocacy, and public mental health followed the screening. Participants included: Gail Freedman Director & Producer;  Actor, comedian, writer, and producer, Bob Odenkirk; Teresa Pasquini, Mental Health Advocate, and Jonathan E. Sherin, MD, PhD, Former Director, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.
