Marlee Porter (she/her)

Marlee Porter (she/her) is a senior at Marymount High School. She is a poet through Get Lit-Words Ignite and the media director for Poetry4Progress. Prior to joining these organizations, she used poetry mostly as a coping skill. Since joining however, she has been able to engage in poetry in a very intentional way, using it as an intersection for the arts and advocacy. She frequently expresses her views on her own racial identity, sexual orientation, and overall mental health, in a way that can be expansive and applicable to many audience members. Beyond poetry, Marlee is an active member of her community, as student body president, a volunteer at Teen Line, and board member of The Sunset, her school’s literary magazine. She is excited to continue to share her creative side and inspire others to use their voices to express themselves, raise awareness, and insight change.
